Ristorante Cece e Simo a Bergamo
In the heart of Bergamo, Cece e Simo has long been a landmark for conviviality and an informal, welcoming atmosphere.
The project stems from a relationship of friendship and trust between the restaurant’s owners and Piero Capponi. Capponi Group was initially commissioned to design and deliver the ten hotel rooms located above the restaurant, an intervention that naturally opened the opportunity to also reimagine the restaurant’s interiors.
From this synergy came the idea of introducing a renewed visual identity: more pop, contemporary, and instantly recognisable, capable of strengthening the venue’s character while preserving its authentic spirit and informal essence.
The ambition was not to radically transform Cece e Simo, but to carefully evolve its identity while preserving its unmistakable convivial spirit.
The project focused on redefining the atmosphere of the space through a thoughtful use of bold colours, simple materials, and graphic accents designed to create a vibrant, welcoming environment. The key challenge was to strike a refined balance between playfulness and comfort, shaping a space that feels fresh and contemporary, yet remains instantly recognisable and deeply familiar to its long-standing guests.
The new Cece e Simo restaurant is characterised by a colourful, pop-inspired visual style, achieved through the use of ceramic surfaces, rich colours and graphic details.
The walls are brought to life by glossy tiles in shades of red, blue and yellow, which define the spaces and help to create a dynamic, informal atmosphere. The bathrooms introduce a more graphic element with black-and-white chequered flooring and ceramic wall tiles in bold colours.
The furnishings and decorative elements complete the visual narrative of the space, whilst the lighting helps to create a warm and convivial atmosphere.
The result is a restaurant that retains the authentic spirit of the venue but reinterprets it through a more contemporary and playful aesthetic.
Capponi Group led the project, overseeing both the design and construction phases in close collaboration with the restaurant’s owners.
This direct partnership, built on trust and shared vision, enabled a design process that authentically captures the essence of the venue, translating it into a renewed and vibrant space. The result is a revitalised environment designed to welcome both loyal regulars and new guests, reinforcing the restaurant’s role as a true social landmark in the city.
